Having lived in southern Spain for twelve years I can say that usually the weather is quite good in October. Always be prepared though. We have found that when we do travel up north it is still best to pack a jacket, jumper and umbrella. Having said that we still pack our summer clothes as well.

I live 100 miles north of Barcelona. Do'nt worry, it will be fine. Pack a sweater for the evenings maybe, but generally take light clothes and enjoy this amazing city.
