How do i get an nhs medical card for overseas travel to the european union?
Answers:
**the E111 has been replaced**
sounds like you need a EHIC card (http://www.ehicard.org/?gclid=cpyxpjydt4.
you can get these from - http://www.dh.gov.uk/policyandguidance/h.
it's free and you'll get it in the post
e111 form from the post office
Simple. Just go to..
https://www.dh.gov.uk and follow the online application.
You will need your NI number and don't forget the EHIC card is just for you and no other member of your family.
You just need to get an E1 11 form from your local clinic and you will be issued with a card that gives you all the same entitlements as you have in your country in all EU countries.
You don't get an nhs card, they don't exist. You have to apply for a European Health Insurance Card and you can do that at post offices, just like you could an E111
You need a European Health Insurance card which replaces the old E111. Call them on 0845 46 47 (open 24 hours) or visit the website www.nhsdirect.wales.nhs.uk
Get an EHIC card from your post office. Bear in mind that it only covers you for emergency treatment. You need proper travel insurance with medical cover for non emergency treatment. Travel insurances also won't pay out for emergency treatment in the EU as it's paid for by EHIC.
If it is an E111 card that you need you can get an application form from any post office. Perhaps you could also download an application form from NHS website. Google E111 and see what you get!
