If i wanted to open up a travel agency how do i go about it.. Has anyone done it independly before?

First things first..crawl a little before you want to walk or run. GET A JOB in a travel agency..even if you have to BEG to work there, and then after about 3 months you'll KNOW IF YOU REALLY WANT YOUR OWN AGENCY.
If you are in the UK make some enquiries with ABTA, I am sure they would point you in the right direction :)
You've got to have an ABTA license to trade. It's not as easy to set up as it first sounds. There are lots of guidelines you have to adhere to and the financial side is huge.
You need to be able to finance a huge bond.
Bear in mind that the travel industry is suffering now with online companies selling holidays for a lot less than the commission you would earn which is peanuts unless you have clients that spend thousands on holidays.
Think twice before going ahead.
