HI We are looking for a really special place to stay to celebrate our 10th wedding ann on 21st December. We would like a 4-5 * hotel or even self catering but for 1 or 2 nights only as we are working on a tight budget! Pref in South or East Devon. Really romantic and top luxury!

Not sure you can book into a 4 or 5 star hotel for just 1 or 2 nights, but the best place I have always found is Torquay. I even believe they have a 5 star hotel there. And for that special restaurant to celebrate the big day? You could try the Marina. It's a beautiful restaurant, situated right on the Quay itself. You can dine in luxury overlooking the lights shining on the water.
Try the Palace Hotel in Torquay. While you're there, check out the fine job my sister has done in tending the gardens. ;-) Otherwise there's the Imperial (5*) or The Grand Hotel, which is right on the sea front. Torquay is great in the winter - walks along the beach are delicious!
Otherwise, how about Burgh Island (if you can get a booking!): http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/culture/books.
the river dart, it's beautiful..
Imperial or Rougemont hotels in Exeter.
