What is the name of the nearest train station for Austwitz in poland?
Answers:
There are two ways to reach Auschwitz from Krakow, either by bus or by train. The trains are not very frequent, whereas the buses area approximately every half hour. (This is in summer, timetables change and there are fewer trains and buses when the tourist season has finished).
The bus station is can be reached through the train station - go under the platforms and out the other side. The buses go from the lower level concourse (you will come out on the upper level from the train station); there is a large departure board in the building next to the upper concourse that tells you which stand you need. The bus is going to Osweicim, or somewhere else via Osweicim.
It takes just over an hour but the bus driver will drop you off at the gates of the museum (some drivers need to be asked to stop at the museum, others will assume that is your destination and drop you there automatically). It cost 7PLN per person, each way, buy the ticket when you get on the bus from the driver. The bus will drop you at the back gate of Auschwitz I - the first camp and main museum.
More . . .
Oświęcim is 75km west of Kraków and is served by frequent buses (1.5hrs, 10-15zł) and two early trains (1,5hrs, 7zł) daily. Some buses drop you off at Auschwitz Museum, others will leave you at Oświęcim train station from where local buses N°2, 3, 4, 5, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 (tickets at the kiosk, 1.20zł) go to the museum. The two camps are 3km apart. Buses leave for Auschwitz II - Birkenau every hour from the car park of Auschwitz I. Alternatively, take a taxi between the two for 10zł. Waiting minibus taxis run by Malarek Tour ( http://malarek-tour.supernet.com.pl. ) can take you back to Kraków - a group of eight would pay 25-35zł/person.
wait dont tell me i know this one--i know i know--oh well you waited too long now i forgot
Oświęcim.
Can't believe you are actually getting sincere answers to this, which is probably more than you deserve?
Hey there's a railway siding right in the camp!
Oswiecim is the city where Auschwitz is located and that's where the nearest train station would be. I was just there this summer. and to the ignorant above me - the railroad tracks that run through Birkenau (which was a part of the concentration camp) are not open for public transportation.
Oswiecim
