What qualifacations do you need to be a tour operator?

You need to know your way around
You will need all sorts of qualifications, i.e. air fares and ticketing, travel insurance, and more. Good luck!
If you go to college a course such as foundation level in travel and tourism should be available, this usually gives you an ABTAC qualification which should help you become a tour operator. I have just completed the course myself and have found that there are many more job opportunities available from this course including Tour Operator, Travel agent, Cabin Crew, Holiday Rep and Airport ground staff. Good Luck

P.S. Someone also said that a course in Travel and Ticketing would also be needed. This is true but is also included in the Travel and Tourism course. My course lasted 1 year and consisted of ABTAC Geography and costings, Virgin Ticketing, and a short lesson in a travel office every 3 weeks. We also studied I.T and Spanish but these were used to "bulk up" the course as it is not a full time course. We used to study Monday, Tuesday and the occasional Wednesday. It was really enjoyable and worthwhile. I came away with distinctions and merits in all of my qualifications.
