Why Heathrow when we could cut pollution!?

To take some long haul flights we have to get a polluting shuttle from a smaller airport to our capital. Why not share some of the flights with other big airports like Manchester and Glasgow?

its more a matter of air traffic control issues, to have major airports handling the amount of aircraft that heath row and gatwick handle would have to completely change the air corridors and airspace classifications, from a to g, a being restricted and g being open.

Also in answer to Glasgow, there are only 5 million people living in Scotland verses 8 million in London, so I guess we would actually use more aviation fuel flying the southerns to the Scotland to handle the volume..

It is an in perfect system, but at the moment we have some of the safest Sky's in Europe if not the world..

i agree with you. wenever i used to go to thailand i hated having to go via heathrow, when it would have been easier to fly from glasgow

its about having resources centrally
keeps numbers of employees down
and so reduces the final cost to flights
alternative is to charge more tax from london airports
