Answers:
Books and magazines are fine in you hand luggage, I have attached some links for you to show you the latest rules.
Call your tour operator, they will be able to provide you with a list of what is and is not acceptable
probably
Yes I've flown with books and magazines in hand luggage. so i dont see why not. although mind you with all the *terror alerts* they might check the content of the book :P
No they pose to much of a threat !
Yes they are, it is just liquids, and electronics that are questionable.
Of course. It's things like fingernail clippers and scissors that they are looking to confiscate. Don't try bringing those. They will take them in a heartbeat. Look at what is on your key chain too. They are sure to take any sharp objects.
I flew to Dubai only 3 weeks ago with a few magazines and had no problems at all, also to Turkey 7 weeks ago.
You'll be ok, as long they're clean!

I believe that they are allowed on the aircraft. If you go to http://www.tsa.gov/ they have a complete and updated list of what you can and cannot bring on the aircraft.
Have a great trip!
Should be OK, but go to the website of the airline yu are flying with - they will have a page detailing what is not allowed
