Ashram retreats. Have you been to any?

Answers:
there are loads of them and India's huge, so there's plenty to explore. Depends what you want. The sivananda organisation www.sivananda.org/ runs many round the world and also within India. I;'ve stayed at Neyyar Dam, in South India (fly to Trivandaram) but they have others in Rishikesh, Madurai and other places. their regime is strict - up at 5am, satsang, yoga classes and study all day, bed at 10pm, two meals a day. But you feel great afterwards.
Otherwise you could try the "cashram" in Pune - that's Osho's ashram, where everything costs a fortune and you need an AIDs test to stay.
Alternatively, check out Auroville, which is supposed to be good.

There used to be a book listing all the ashrams, but I can't find it now. Trawl the web, you may find a reference to it.
Good luck!
I've been to the Ashoka South Side. Does that count?

I don't understand your question, i think you forgot to finish it, but i have been too India in Gujurat about 20years ago, i believe at present it is under water, they have had a very bad monsoon, worst ever, many people have died.
Yes, I've been to a few in India. Does that answer your question?
my friend did, she said they had to do yoga for 5 hours a day, get up at 5am, and got hardly anything to eat, but she really enjoyed the experience. I think she stayed for 2 weeks, and it was in the far north somewhere, I hope that helps x
