Do you need a visa to visit Australia?
UK visitor staying for 7 weeks. Some travel books say only a passport is required, others say visa or ETA is also required.

G'day Auds,
Thank you for your question.
You will require a visa unless you are from New Zealand. There are three basic types - tourist visa, sponsored family visit visa and electronic travel authority.
The Electronic Travel Authority allows you to spend up to three months in Australia and is available over the Internet. It costs $20 Australian for a service fee. You can contact Australia House for assistance on 0906 5508900 between 9am and 4pm
You won't be allowed in if you are in poor health or have a criminal conviction.
I hope that you have a great time visiting Australia.

Yes, a visa is required. My family and I are visiting there in a few months and we need to get a visa.
I heard UK passport holders have privilege, so don't worry too much, but I recommend you check with Immigration Office. Other passport holders except NZ are required to get ETA.
Not if you have cash and you don't mind boats. I can squeeze you in this thursday with a family of 37..
Yes you do need a visa. Your travel agent should have told you this. It's just an electronic visa, it costs about GBP£20.
Definitely, I leave for oz on Sunday and habe mine sorted but I did it when I booked my ticket. The links people have given shoud help, it shouldnt take long
You need an eta to enter Australia, or you'll turn up at the airport and be disappointed. Have a word with your travel agent (who should have told you), or contact Australia house and the oz govt website to get your visa online.
yes you need a holiday visa. You can apply for one at the Australian embassy. It will probably be a slip of paper stapled onto a page of your passport. Check with your travel agent too, as some can organise visas for you - save you running around looking for it - they may charge commision for it though.
