What's the best way to get carpets etc back to UK from Marrakech, Morocco?
I plan to shop when I'm in Marrakech in a few days and want to be prepared around getting the items back to the UK. I've heard stories about people turning up at the airport with their goods and being charged large amounts for their relatively cheap goods. Does anyone have experience using shipping companies in Marrakech?

If you know the magic word you can fly them.
I do know that you can have them personally delivered to the uk. Although I dont know what charge would be made. Hope that helps a little.

I have been to Morrocco and almost every place you can buy rugs, carpets can arrange shipping for you as this is very common, i have done this many times and it has always been ok.
I would say however that i am in England, so it may not be the same if you are somewhere else in the world.
Hope this gives you a little more confidence, bye the way haggle and never pay more than 50% of the first asking price.
us DHL messenger or charge it with lager in the plane or what ever?
Most will deliver them, at quite a reasonable cost too. Everywhere I went said they could arrange shipping, good luck.
having just arrived back from Morocco (5-11-06) where I went in Fes, they offered to send the carpet via DHL. The cost with buying the carpet & DHL was £250. So I would expect that it will be the same in Marrakech.
