Here is an italian friend from Rome.
Have you ever seen my city?
If so, what do you think about it?
I've been in england for two months the last january.
There are a lots of difference between the two capitals.
You have a lots of people from different countries very integrated (?). Here in italy i think we are more closed minded (?).

I've just been!
To be honest I found it quite scary compared to London. This was mainly due to the big roads and very flirtatious men! But I did like the fact there didn't seem to be any slum areas - even the more run down places still had buildings that fitted in unlike London with it's high-rise 1960 monstrosities!
Regarding the cars: In london I'm fine not scared at all, walk across gaps in the traffic easily etc but the main thing I wasn't expecting was people to drive across the crossing when you're on it. In England they stop once you're on the crossing even if you have to force your way across & make them stop. I imagine it's something you'd easily get used to - by the end of the week I was a lot more confident but day 1 we were on a huge road & were stuck until an Italian brazenly walked across & we scuttled after her!
The men: well they were all really nice & it's not like I ever felt in danger - they were just much more friendly in the UK but it was quite intimidating as I'm a shy person I suppose. One man even started walking next to us for several streets until we claimed to be going to dinner in a restaurant at the side. I'd been warned actually by an Italian friend but it was still a shock. The most I get in the UK is a wolf-wistle from the other side of the road which is much easier to ignore!
I didn't find Italian's close minded. There's maybe more of a mix in London but I still saw lots of different nationalities in Italy though I don't know how many were tourists. I did notice lots of black bag sellers - apparently there aren't any real italians doing this?
I'm probably not qualified to form much of an opinion having been there a week but I did find Italians very friendly people, don't seem to mind the tourists at all - even those not good at Italian! I originally planned to go to Paris but was told they don't like tourists much so picked Rome and can't say I felt at all unwelcome =)

i've never been. My friend went a few weeks ago and hated it so I havent been motivated to visit yet. i would like to go to a quieter part of Italy I think

i was in Italy some years ago,i had a nice time.i liked Capri and Venice. my favorite city is Rome I'm glad that i had the chance to travel there.

I am from Florida-US- My husband and I visited Rome this past March. I enjoyed the historical sites very much but I thought Rome was a lot like NY City. It's not very clean, but I guess that can be said for most large cities. Overall we liked Rome. We also visited Portofino and I thought it was beautiful!!
I love to visit Rome, there is so much to see and do as a tourist. It is very easy to find good restaurants and hotels.
Holidaying in Britain is much more difficult as many restaurants only serve meals at certain times and the quality of the food isn't as good. Hotels are hard to find especially in the off season. I always get the impression that I'm in inconvenience rather than a welcome guest.
Social integration depends on where you are in Britain. Here in Edinburgh it is very multi-cultural, something that I love, but down in Cambridge where I used to live it was closed-minded white folk as far as the eye could see.
i went to Rome and Naples on my last holiday.
and I'm sorry but much though i LOVED the sites..
the Vatican, the Pantheon, the Colosseum.. etc etc i was disappointed with Rome as a city.. it was VERY VERY busy, and i didn't feel welcome at all.. the people were quite rude. it might just be with it being a capital city.. when i got to the outskirts of Naples i enjoyed it more.. ( though Naples city centre was a nightmare)
The thing that i seemed quite surprised by, was you really don't seem to take care of your history.. you have all of this amazing architecture and culture and you really seem to take it for granted.. a lot of it was really run down ( and yes i know they are ruins.. i meant they werent maintained to stop them getting any worse) i live in the north east of England near Hadrian's wall.. and the tiny bits of roman architecture we have is cherished..
all in all i loved my holiday there.. but I'd say it was more for the things i saw rather than the experience of Italy.. which is a shame.. i would go back to Rome now that i know where are the tourist parts and how to avoid them.. but i would never go back to Naples..

Rome is very cosmopolitain and has many attractions.
I have been in Rome and lived in England. I liked Rome, though it was sometimes really full of fellow tourists. I saw people from all over the world in Rome. I assume most of the international people were tourist and not residents of the city. I found many Italians to be friendly and outgoing, though I was surprised how many knew only Italian, especially in tourist hotspots.
I agree that London itself is more multicultural than Rome (though if you go to some of the smaller places further away from London, the it is less so). You can take the tube on any given day and hear at least 4 or 5 different languages spoken by people who live there. I like the idea of nationalities getting together!

I live in Naples right now, I have been to Rome many times, it is a fascinating city.
The art is fantastic.
The food is delicious.
The ancient architecture is astounding.
Unfortunately, I think Italians produced much more in their past to be proud of than they are producing today.
