WANTED: baby friendly sightseeing in North West Province,South Africa?
our son will be 1 when we go to South Africa - what can we do with him in the North West Province?
Answers:
Sun city is of course an option, already mentioned above. If you are into animal watching, the Pilanesberg National Park is nice, the most child-friendly would most probably be Madikwe Game Reserve, but it is also very expensive.
A good website to look at:

No-one is disputing that there is crime in SA, however please be warned that certain "crime" websites are not to be trusted as it is an attempt to drive away tourism from SA, and extremely biased and racist.
Please enjoy your stay in South Africa and be safe.
Take him to Sun City.I think there's a place there called "Valley of the Waves."Or try "Kamp Kwena". (Just go to your Google search icomn and type in Sun City.Go to Kiddies entertainment and you will find "Kamp Kwena".)
Long before you make any plans to visit South Africa I think you should check out how unsafe it is. They have one of the highest murder rates in the World and the highest rape rate in the World. Children are raped and sodomised on a daily basis as many Africans believe this is a cure for AIDS. Car jacking abounds with the victims often being shot and killed and they happen everywhere ( even on quiet rural roads). The inner Cities are completely unsafe after dark and many parts are squalid and filthy. There are rat infestations in some of the Johannesburg suburbs and Public Services are falling to pieces. Tourists are a particular target at the Airports with baggage theft and robbry by armed gangsters after departing the Airport common. There are a number of crime sites you can check as news is being suppressed by the Government influenced Media and Police are not taking crime reprts in an effort to keep stats down. There has been a huge spike in crime in SA over the last 6 months which will only be reported on in a years time. If you want addresses of the crime sites please contact me. They are the only reliable news venues left in SA.
Interesting that Joyce F alleges the crime sites are racist ( which they are not) when she herself was berated for her racism in an answer to another question.
As you read these answers, you will see a conflict between the realists and those that wish everything was okay in South Africa.
The wishful thinkers are correct - it is a very beautiful and
complex country, and the people - all of them - are, by and large, a wonderful nation.
The realists are correct, too - South Africa is crime-ridden, moreso than any other place on Earth, and the nature of the crime is swift and brutal. And mostly terminal.
My advice to you, if you're planning on going there, is to simply Google what you want to see in South Africa and see what comes up. I won't try to discourage you, but look at both sides of the picture.
If you decide to go, have fun, but always be aware of what's going on around you.
