Seriously though I have enjoyed myself drinking in Newcastle`s Quays area and have had great food in Jesmond BUT stayed at a really shitty "hotel" in Washington (sorry Post House as was LOL)

Well, you have a good road infrastructure, a very good rail service and airport and at a crunch harbours, so you can escape anytime.
