Hoe do i get to chesterfeild from s.wales without going on a motorway?

need to travell up by car for a competion just passed me driving test and dont fancy driving on a motor way yet

Answers:
With great difficulty. Best idea would be to get some practice in on motorways and then plan your route to cut down on motorway driving.
Depends where you are in SW but suggest head for Shrewsbury and a short spell on M54 will then allow you to head north to Derby and Chesterfield on A roads. A good map book would help you to plan.
drive on the grass?
Up to Rhyill (Cant spell x x) then do the M56 its a quiet motorway. through Manchester to Glossop, Pick up the Snake pass (A616 i think) into Bamford then to Hathersidge then on Owler bar round a bout do a left Chatworth road.. Will bring you out near the football groung
Try Air Fungus
Check out the website below. This is the AA's route planner and you can select a box that avoids Motorways.
Why don't you walk, you'd avoid motorways entierly!
