Dublin or Amsterdam for a long weekend next February?

These are two places me and my boyfriend are thinking of going to. We visited Prague a couple of years ago and adored it. Which place is more worthwhile for a nice, chilled-out break?

Answers:
i watched a tv programme about best cities in the world to visit. dublin finished 5th and amsterdam finished about 16th. i have bin to both and i feel dublin is more relaxed and more fun. But amsterdam is more beautiful but has a lot of drug users.i would advise u to go to dublin if ur not british, but amsterdam if u are. i have bin to both and preferred dublin personally and u can drink guiness. dublin is good.
depends if you want stout or drugs
Dublin rocks.
Amsterdam, you will have more to do there.
Dublin - I've been 5 times. Great people, lots of history and plenty to do and see. And drinking is part of the culture. What more do you need?
can i tag along with you to amsterdam?
you'll love Dublin It's nice and so is the surrounding area. A few miles out of town you're out in the country. Amsterdam is waay to infested with coffeeshops(not the coffee kind) and red lights district + there's not much to see outside of the city. If you want to visit a town in Holland try the Hague it's much nicer. besides Dutch cuisine sucks.
Dublin is a major cultural centre in Ireland and the origin of many prominent artists and writers such as James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, Brian O'Nolan, Bram Stoker, George Bernard Shaw, and Roddy Doyle. Dubliners is a collection of short stories by James Joyce about incidents and characters typical of residents of the city in the early part of the 20th century. Ulysses, also by James Joyce, a novel set in Dublin, is full of topographical detail and is both acclaimed and controversial.

The National Print Museum of Ireland, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, both the National Gallery and the National Library of Ireland, the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery, the Chester Beatty Library and three centers of the National Museum of Ireland are located in Dublin.

Along with a number of galleries and art centres such as The City Arts Centre, Four, The Douglas Hyde Gallery, The Project Arts Centre and The Royal Hibernian Academy all located in city centre.

Temple Bar is an important place for night life and often people from Great Britain and beyond visit for the weekend.

The city is one of the most youthful in the world - an estimated 50% of inhabitants are below 25 years old.

Amsterdam is noted for many outstanding museums, including the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum, Rembrandt House Museum, and its world-class symphony orchestra, the Concertgebouworkest, whose home base is the Concertgebouw. The Van Gogh Museum houses the largest collection of Van Gogh's paintings and drawings in the world. An unlikely tourist treat is the moving story of Anne Frank at the Anne Frank House.

Amsterdam is also notable for its red-light district, de Wallen. Prostitution is legal in the Netherlands. The red-light district is located in the center of the city along major canals and is clearly marked on maps.

Centred around the Wallen, but also elsewhere in the city, coffee shops sell high quality cannabis (marijuana) products. This is not completely legal but is tolerated when small quantities of the drug are involved.
Go to amsterdam. You will love it.
Amsterdam. Lovely city, loads to do. Go eat on the floating chinese diner, it was romantic and fun. The zoo is a bit minging, but shopping is fab, especially for diamonds.
both top destinations, i would suggest Dublin for the more'chilled' weekender if indeed your emphasis is on the 'chill factor' however you can avoid the 'hussle and bussle' of the deutsch vagabonds and jackaknifes with a bit of planning, planning however not wholly condusive to chilling: so i guess it depends on how much pre-trip work you wish to undertake, hope my words and experience benefit your trip
It really depends on what you are in to personally, Dublin is a great city with loads to do but the weather in Feb is not that great.
I live in Dublin so I'll go to Amsterdam for a change. Anyway there is a lot of thins that you could do here so I also recommend it!
I think you should go to Amsterdam. Dublin is great but not much to do there if the weather is bad (which it will be) unless you like your drinking. I know that Amsterdam can offer you a wild time but pretty sure that its the best choice for a chilled out break aswell
Its gotta be the Dam , Dublins not cheap and its full of pissheads , I know the Dams full of smokers but its a nice city ..enjoy
