Where are the best areas in manchester for a young single person to live?

Answers:
probably in the local prison
Are you talking about England or New Hampshire?
Assuming you mean Manchester UK (the category this is in) then:

East Didsbury is a fashionable part of town, about 30 mins on a bus from the city centre, but with its own village with decent bars and restaurants, and lots of yuppies.

Fallowfield is nearer and cheaper to the centre but full of students.

The city centre is brimming with rental property at the moment - you could try the northern quarter (funky bars and shops), Picadilly or near Deansgate (expensive but worth it).

Or, further out of the city you could try Sale, Prestwich, Levenshulme (no longer the dive it once was), even bits of Hulme (the non 'technically Moss Side' bits).

All depends on which bit of the city you'll be working or studying in and how much you want to spend, but the young uns (myself included) and taking over the city so wherever you decide to live you should be fine and be surrounded by lots of people your own age.
Failsworth
FALLOWFIELD OR DIDSBURY, MOST DEFINATLY, OR WITHINGTON COMES CLOSE.
city center it depends on the cash issue?
