Any body feel malaysia economy is good ?

The Malaysian economy is on the plus. I would not say its doing great but there is a trade & a Monetary account surplus. But the pluses are small so from what I am reading the government is cautious (which is good) with spending. No new billion $ bridges to Singapore.
The good thing about the Malaysian government is that they believe in small government & they are privatising a lot of state own companies (of course the largest stake holders in those companies is still the government).
Compared to Indonesia where it is burden by silly subsidies (Oil subsidies for one), Yes they keep the oil prices balanced but at a high cost to an already poor government.
However, the people have been burden by rising fuel cost & high inflation. Salary remains stagnant.
I have always wondered why with the rising cost of fuel that Malaysia decided to have an auto industry (in a nation of then 18 million) rather than a world class transport system. Proton is struggling to break into foreign markets & the local market due to population is small. I think its just 1 man's ego.
I went back to Malaysia 3 years ago and they finally have a mono rail system in Kuala Lumpur. Very nice, better system means less dependant on cars (less fuel consumption) and cleaner environment.
The economy is relatively modest in summary. I would not invest all my money in Malaysia tho if I was an investor.Retiring in M'sia is acceptable. Think most foreigners are doing that right?.
