Anyone been to Egypt? What do you think of the Egyptians?

Answers:
I'm not sure exactly what you want to know. I spent 3 months in Egypt and enjoyed it. Obviously, living standards outside of rich neighborhoods are not the same as one might be used to in Western Europe or North America, but that is to be expected.

With the exception of some boys in Cairo (who seem to have a habit of daring each other to touch Western women) and pushy merchants in Luxor (tourism is really their only business there), everyone was very friendly and welcoming (I spent most of my time in a more rural area). I spoke little to no Arabic when I got there, but picked up a little more along the way and had some oddly mixed Arabic-English conversations with some people, which helped me learn more. Such conversations were always friendly.

If you want to know anything else about Egypt or visiting there, post again and I'll be happy to answer.
My dad lived and worked in Cairo for 6 months. He said he really enjoyed the wonderful people he met. They were very kind, and gracious. They fed him and welcomed into their family. He made some long time friends. He really had a great time bartering with the locals in Arabic. They would knock down the price if he spoke their language.
Fantastic! Culture shock at first - it cost me a few quid to get from the aeroplane to the bus in tips for someone bringing me a trolley and someone else providing me with some toilet paper! I got the impression that generally there's not much money about, so everyone loves tourists. That aside, I found people very friendly, welcoming and courteous.
I've been, there's a big river runs through it.
No not yet .. but i like to go there ..
they`re lovely, very friendly and interested in life in britain.
I was there on holiday about 6 years ago and I thought the Egyptians had the best sense of humour of all the foreigners.
I think if you treat people as you would like to be treated, then you will find that nearly everyone is nice to you.
If you are a tourist, its the worst place in the world for pestering. I dont care if I never meet another Egyptian. In fact I would prefer it.
I loved the place and the people ,but its when they tried to get me into pyramid selling i went off them.
I found them to be so WARM..friendly.caring.pe. Much nicer than the French.lol.

I'm a big believer..what you put out there is what you get back.so if your nice to them.they are nice to you.

I traveled alone for 10 days in Cairo and the Nile Valley and my guide, waiters.maid service.etc..everyone.wa. so nice and kinda adopted me.

I'd go back in a minute to spend more time with the locals.
fantastic country, fantastic people if your looking for sometghing different and lots of history and culture try egypt. It is so different from crappy europe you actually feel like your in a different country a real culture shock but in a good way. And the weather is great. Just watch out for the toilets outside of your hotel! I went to one at Cairo zoo and it literally made me sick it was that disgusting! luxor and cairo are the best dont boother with hurghada ot taba or sharm, they are just purpose built tourist resorts no ct very egyptian at all.
egyptians are friendly welcoming peacful generous people
The Egyptian people are extremely nice.
I really like that they don't beg for money when you want a picture with them. They love hospitality and really are very excited to bring you into their home and eat with you.
Also, if you could learn one or two words in their language it will make them very happy. They think it is really special that you try to say something to them.
Two of my favorites are "yella beana" = let's go
and "mumkin" = may I
