How to travel smart?

Answers:
Rule 1: only pack into luggage what you need and what you can lift yourself (there will be no knight in shining armour at the other side)
Rule 2: Ensure your hand luggage is less than 5kg - trust me any heavier and you end up with major back pain whilst in transit
Rule 3: In your Hand luggage have all your travel documents as well as your money and personal effects.
Rule 4: Make a copy of your passport (Photo Page) and plane ticket and carry this on your person - this ensures that should your documents be lost or stolen you will still be able to travel as your embassy/ high commission will be able to issue you with new travelling docs.
Rule 5: Do wear comfortable loose clothing and shoes on the flight - if this is a long haul flight (more than 5 hours) you will get swollen feet - also an extra jersey as it can get cold in the cabin
Rule 6: Carry most of your funds in Traveller cheques - these are insured against theft and mis-use - BUT have enough local currency for taxi and snack
Rule 7: HAVE FUN - Whatever you do - do enjoy the trip
Pack wisely. Only pack what you actually need.
