Does anyone know of any reliable and good budget airlines for trips to New york?

Answers:
Here's a list, also with lowest fares: http://www.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/ne. -- Northwest is coming in cheapest currently at £226 rt (+taxes and fees), and I highly recommend their transatlantic service.

Other lesser-knowns on the route include Air India and Kuwait Airways, the latter supposedly is very good (the former, not so good from what I hear).

Kelkoo's UK shopping comparison site (part of Yahoo) has a very good airfare comparison search. It includes Opodo, Ebookers, airlines, and other sources with just one input of cities and dates. Here ya go: http://travel.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/c_172201_.
I need to know where you are going to New York from. Where does your trip start?
Try sidestep.com. This site skirts other sites like Orbitz and Travelocity to find the lowest possible fares. It's remarkable!
There's a new airline I believe the name is "Jet Blue" who offers great rates to various cities in the US!
Here is the Cheap International Plane Tickets. You comaire the offers between different compnies and book online. Choose the one which complete your requirments,

Air India is cheap but not very reliable.
Kuwait airlines have pretty good deals.
British airways and virgin have pretty good rates to new york especially during November and January-February.
Try to book in advance to get a good deal and avoid the peak periods.
