have a look at and understand london history.
get a gas mask
Spend the day with me!

It depend what your interests are. If you want to experience stereotypical London- visit all the tourist attractions Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace etc. Avoid places like the Dungeons if you've only got a day- too many queues.

If you're into shopping visit Bond Street and Oxford Street- and for something different Camden Town.

If you're into your nightlife- trawl central London and see how many celebrity "hot spot" nightclubs you can get into in one night. Might be a bit pricey though.

If you just wanna have a good time- head to central London in the morning and see where the day takes you. Central London has the most potential for things to happen. Sample as many things you can.

If you know someone who already lives in London- bonus- they should be happy to take you around.
Take a bus tour. That way you get to see al the landmarks that makes this town famous.
Spend it riding the tube and you'll appreciate wherever it is you came from a lot more,
Do some shopping, go to the london eye and Big Ben tower, and have dinner at a nice restaurant in london.
By avoiding it altogether it's a smog filled over priced toilet bowl unless you like getting ripped off that is.
Return home as soon as you get there. It is a sh*thole of a place and the capital of rip-off Britain.
We have some of the best museums (the British Museum, the V&A, the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum) and art galleries (the National Gallery, the National Protrait Gallery, the Tate Modern, Tate Britain) in the world.

If you want something a bit less cultured, try the London Eye or a river trip for the views, Covent Garden for the atmosphere and shopping, Hamley's toy shop for playing with stuff even though you're a grown-up.

I live in London but my kids and I never get bored because there's so much to do.
just wander around
Covent Garden
Portabello Road Market
London Eye
The Museums and Art Galleries (Tate Modern and the Museum of moving image)
Tower of London
Trocadero
Top that lot off with an open top bus ride.

Have fun :)

Open top bus ride
Leave as quick as possible
The south bank!
On a bright day like the ones this time of year, it's the best place in London:
The views are to die for, walking along the thames, and there's loads to do too:
You've got the London aquarium, which is awsome, and the London eye, then you get to the National film theatre and the National theatre, where you can catch decent plays for just 10 quid.
You've got a book market there as well, and if you carry on you can have a meal in one of the restaurants around the corner (TAZ has got a nice oriental feel), or up at the OXO tower restaurant, where you can also check the niche art galleries in the building (free admission)
Then there's the Tate modern, right opposed to St. Paul's Cathedral, and if you're there on a weekend, Borough food market's just around the corner, where you'll also find a bunch of nifty bars in an area called Vinopolis.
if you want to spent time to see London, i will help you

morning visit the London dungeon,
after visit, just across the road, visit HMS Belfast Warship,
than after visit the Tower Bridge,

by the time you feel hungry so, in London bridge area to many restaurant just finish your lunch and start again,

cruise ride from Tower Bridge to Greenwich,

bye the time its evening and at the evening visit London eye, and when you finish London eye visit just take dinner at the Cattermanne Cruise with your friends

interesting,

have a fun
