I have heard there are plans to change the British time Zone to CET is this true?

Answers:
Actually yes, they were discussing it the other day, it may happen next year, the argument is that many road deaths could be avoided as it wouldn't be as dark at the times people are moving about on mass (as in, after school, work etc). Also the timezone changed to GMT because of that reason too, that children had to walk to school in the dark, however now it seems the same thing is happening at night and they want to change back to CET. Also many people are suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) because of the long dark dull hours and the lack of light hitting the back of the human eye causes one to feel vulnerable.

There are probably business reasons too, but yes it is being discussed, so don't listen to the people that are saying no. :-)
I seriously doubt it. GMT is the Prime Meridian from which other time zones are standardised.
No - they talk about it every time the clocks go back but nothing ever happens
Not true.
We invented Greenwich Mean Time. If they wish to change it we will break away on our own.
This is often talked about. The experiment a few years ago staying on BST all the year round was abandoned. CET would mean we change too early. We only need to be on GMT between beginning of December to end of January but will they go for that?

And yes, another body HAS recommended using CET.
Only when a certain load of immigrants finally take us over. Until then, NO CHANCE !
I bl00dy hope not. We should keep our traditions. Keep GMT!!

(This wouldn't be another stupid EU idea, would it? like all fire extinguishers being red?)
The worlds time zones are referenced to UTC - Coordinated Universal Time (the French pronunciation describes UTC)
Its also the standard used by the Internet and many WWW servers - Network Time Protocol etc etc
Yes it is true, they are planning to implement it to fall in line with the rest of european time because of the whole EU coming together stuff as one big country, GMT will become timewise the way europe is now or so they say. which means more spent on useless things. I also am not against it in a way because if they leaves the clocks like that in winter it means we'll have an hour extra light in the evening which i think is better for when you going home in the evening.
Oh for God's sake why can't politicians leave things alone for once! I'm all for becoming closer to Europe but that doesn't mean we have to become a carbon copy of it. We need to have some things to keep us still british! grrr
