Whats the best way to pack a sleeping bag into a 65 litre rucksack??

Get a squishy bag (I don't know the technical term but it's a little back with the toggles like on the straps of a rucksack, you stuff the sleeping bag in a pull tight and it squishes it down) and tie it to the outside (either the front of from the bottom). That way you can get more stuff into the rucksack - it will however be heavier that way!
i have found it is best not to use a stuff sack and use it as padding in the bottom of the rucksack.
sit in a deckchair,put the ruck sack on the ground,and the sleeping bag next to it.pick up your binoculars the wrong way round,the sleeping bag appears very small,pick up the sleeping bag with your tweezers and bob it into yr ruck sack.should fit in a small pocket.
The bag should be fastened to the outside of the rucksack, giving you more room inside.
You need a compression sack which will squeeze it as small as possible. Most camping stores sell them or you can buy them online like the ones shown here..

It might be worth thinking about getting a waterproof sack and attaching it to the outside of the bag to save space?

ONE LITRE AT A TIME!!
This has always been a bugbear of mine but I find that rolling it up as small as possible and putting it in a strong plastic cover rolling it up again and tying with string and fastening it to the base of the OUTSIDE of your rucksack always works best and if you keel over with the weight of the filled rucksack you always have a soft landing! Happy travels mate.
use a "Stuff bag" to compress most of the air out and pack at the bottom of the Rucksack.. next pack food / cooking equipment / then wet weather gear. keep this at the top , together with a Large plastic sheet or "Army Poncho".. that way if you are in bad weather water will not progress down to your sleeping bag / Food etc.A First Aid kit should be outside the rucksack ( on a Hook ..etc for easy use..)
dont put them in the bag put them in a waterproof cover and carry tied to bag
Without compression sack I'm saying on the bottom of rucksack and don't forget put the head of sleeping bag on the top. Pres it by foot , all air will came out and you can happily start packing the rest.
Strongly suggest inside the pack at the bottom. Would highly recommend against attaching anything to the outside of you pack! If you have to do this then you are carrying too much! Rethink what you are taking ;)
Packs with things attached to the outside are far too clumbsy
Stick it in a compression sack, and squeeze all the air out of it. It should make a significant difference to the size. Stick it in the bottom of the rucksack, unless you're planning on using it before things like food, water and clothing.
Don't put it outside the rucksack unless you've got a fetish about sleeping in wet beds or you're really, really sure you won't get any rain.
Roll it up (if it is a good one it should come with a waterproof covering or bag). and attach it to the outside with the rucksacks straps. Mostly that is what the straps are for..
I've seen a lot of people trekking around Spain and France, and they almost always carry it that way.
