Why is Israel in the Euro-vision Song Contest? According to my atlas, Israel is not in Europe!?
p.s. anyone noticed we don't do very well any more. It's not the songs, maybe the rest of Europe is getting alittle anoyed with us. Please remember they are our closest NEIGHBOURS.

The Eurovision song contest (ewww, yuck) is organised by Eurovision which is a part of the EBU and Israel is a menber of the EBU along with a lot of other non-European countries. I guess therefore the question seems to be; Why is Israel the only non-European country participating and my answer to that would be that the rest of them have better taste.

From copyright to sports and news, from broadcast regulation to co-productions, from telecommunications to public service, wherever broadcasters are confronted with legal questions or regulatory challenges, the Legal Department provides assistance, prepares the ground for adopting common positions and represents and promotes/defends the Members' interests vis-à-vis the relevant international organizations and in professional fora.

It's long been observed that Israel is a European country on the Asian continent and Turkey is an Asian country on the European continent.
Because israel in terms of culture, belongs to the western civilization, and europe.
Because Israel is a member of the European Broadcasting Union, which organizes the Eurovision. Now, why is Israel in the European Broadcasting Union? I guess they're not welcome in the Middle-East one and Europe must have felt guilty for the past and let them join the European one instead. Israel is not the only non-European member though.

I expect that some of their neighbours would not accept any competition with Israel in it - especially when they don't recognise Israel's right to exist.
Israel is also part of UEFA soo it's clubs go into the European football competitions.
They just put their nose everywhere.
