What is the best time of year to go to New York?
Answers:
anytime
Any time as long as there's not 10 inches of snow on the ground.
It depends what you want out of the trip. I have some friends who went in December and loved it cos they got to ice skate while it snowed, but if you are like me and hate the cold I suggest May or June when it's not crazy busy but still warm.
Well from personal eperience, I went in september and it was great. As it's a very vibrant city and you are always on the go it was nice that it was still warm but not so hot that you didn't want to explore. But it depends what you are going for really. Have loads of photos if you want to see what it was like then. Message me on bighanz23@yahoo.co.uk
September/October
I would say September not to hot and not to cold
I love the city in the winter, but it's packed with tourists from Thanksgiving to New Years.
Autumn - when the leaves have changed in Central Park - its stunning. Also a good time to do Xmas Shopping.
I would say fall & early winter. The fall colors, the snow, upcoming holidays! I'm originally from New York. The holiday season is busy with tourists though so plan accordingly.
the Christmas season
all the lights and decorations
and free shows and concerts in many of the buildings
the tree at Rockefeller center
the Christmas show at radio city
ad infinitum
When yo've got the most money to spend.
I would say pick another place during July and August. The North East is already hot and humid, but if you add all the combustion and big city problems to that it can be trying for someone. During this time all the rich New Yorkers are vacationing in Hampton's.
From September to early January is nice. The Change of Seasons is a magical time to visit the North East. Plus no city in the world puts up more Holiday decorations around Christmas. Or pick going during the spring to early summer. The North East comes alive and it is great to walk around during this time.
June / September if you want warm and dry weather or during our big event times:
4th of July, Thanksgiving, holiday shopping season (now), Halloween.
If you're the type who doesn't mind the crowds, during & after Thanksgiving. There is sooo much to do & so many things to see! The best would be to buy a travel package which includes a NY Waterway tour of the Island & a 2 hour bus tour in NYC or you can combine that with a helicopter tour or combine it with a fantastic tour of the "Top of the Rock" the infamous Empire state building which offers a simulated sky ride. Times Square is a spectacular sight during the holidays. Even if you don't have much money to spend, there is always something exciting to do! I love to see all the glimmering lights of Rockefeller Center! There's just soo much to do - you would need to visit NYC several times during the year! JESS
The best time of year to visit is the end of September, early October.
The weather is perfect (although there might be some rain) - usually sunny and warm, but not hot. The summer crowds have gone home and the winter holiday crowds have not started up yet.
Personally, I love the summer in the city, but for some people it is too hot and humid.
I think the worst time to visit is in winter, when it is cold and snowy. The snow turns to slush and it is so annoying to get around and people are just generally miserable about it.
New Year ! oh definitely !!!
When I went, it snowed to knee deep, Central Park was fab, the celebrations were cool, and the brooklyn beer..well gave me a headache from drinking it and the barmen, fantastic (go to the little 'Irish Bar' on 57th (I think) (well, same street going up towards central park from Times Square !!
All year - check when the travel prices are lowest!
Personally i love it at this time of year - its cold but the days are bright and sunny and the leaves are all orange and red in Central Park - the sales also happen to be on as well!
Winter time!!, i love cold weather. It´s great to be in fifth Av. with all the Christmas decorations and to skate in Rockefeller plaza
But i guess New York always is great.
Good luck
1. December
