What is the Ningaloo Reef retreat like for snorkeling in April?
I'm taking my children there next year and would like to know what to expect.
Answers:
well you just get the end of cyclone season 1st of November to the 30th of April, it will be hot, mostly dry (expect up to 30/35 degrees C that time of year) with some humid days here and there, and up there you do get hit by the weather from a cyclone.
The snorkeling and diving is second to none in Australia (including the great Barrier reef) you can get Visibility up to 20-30m on really clam weeks but after a storm the Vis is down to 1-3m if you are lucky (often after a storm you literally cant find your hand in front of your face) But all in all well worth the risk. Make sure before you go out you are informed about the local marine life as some of it can be very dangerous, and all we ask is you take care to look but don't touch and try not to stand on the reef,
I hope you enjoy your trip to Aus, and good luck
PS a few sites which may be of some help for weather and diving
