You will not find a lot of big hotel chains in this area. Mostly smaller boutique hotels, some of which might be out of your budget.
Check out:
Washington Square Hotel - 103 Waverly Place
Abingdon Guest House - http://www.abingdonguesthouse.com/rooms..
If you want to stay in bigger hotels, you might want to look into staying in the Financial District/Wall Street area, which would have more options.
I worked at a couple of chain Hotels (Holiday INN , Ramada Inn, Cormfort INN) All of these have web sites and most are affordable and have Suites. I prefer Holiday Inns because they are clean and cheap. also if you go to an Holiday Inn Express or Ramada Limited they service A small Breakfast,,, 1 less meal to buy.Any of these have Guide books to look at And 800#'s to call for Info. goto one and ask for a book of there Worldwide Hotels..
