Does anyone know if there is a central contact source for left luggage in a yellow cab in New York?
My daughter left a sleeping bag behind in a yellow cab October 2nd '06 in New York having just crossed the States with Trek America and jumped in a cab with two friends outside The Beacon Hotel to go to a cheap hostel. her friend thought she'd emptied the trunk but left the Karrrimor sleeping bag behind accidentally. Is there a central source to contact for left luggage in this kind of circumstance? Or does anyone know of an online contact board for yellow cab drivers in New York
Answers:
NYC yellow cabs are run by several independent operators. There is no central place for lost and found. You could try calling all of the yellow cab companies, but I really doubt that it will still be there. Most likely, someone else has already taken it or its been thrown out. You should just get a new sleeping bag.
does she remember the name of the cab company? she can look it up in the phone book and call them.
There is: Vito's Pawn Shop in Brooklyn.
Just kidding--I think the first reply is best.
The only way to track down the cab would be by the license plate, which is also the cab# that is on the doors and roof. If they have a receipt it may be on there. If you have that info, try to contact the Taxi and Limousine commission of NY to track the cab company.
