It is a lovely small city.
It is close to some excellent vineyards.
For the same reason that anyone would want to live in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Glasgow etc etc etc
people who like to fish - awesome fishing in SA
people who like the outback
people who like clean cities
people that dont like the heat and long summers of the northern states
people who like church (city of churches)
people who like to live in low crime areas
people who like wine - the vineyards are brilliant
people who like to see beauty
(btw this is an unbiest responce im in NSW)
Well you never appreciate a place till you aren't there anymore. I lived there all my life, then moved to NZ. Adelaide has a lot to offer, it's dead easy to get around, the transport system is good, people friendly, you get paid decent, unlike here in NZ. I dropped half when I moved over here in wages. Great nightlife, food wines. I could go on all day!! Give it a go you will be pleasantly suprised
adelaide rocks, its winter and it's hot!!
its so chilled, great nights out, fishing, the most amazing drives thru the hills, great food, great wine.
and the dryest state in the world so hot, hot, hot!
Not only is Adelaide cheaper to live in than any other Australian city, but it has by far the best food and wine scene. It is also big on coffee with some of Australia's best baristas coming out of Adelaide.

There is an emphasis on local produce that other cities (except perhaps Hobart) fall pitifully behind on and it has some wonderful wine regions. Whilst in the Barossa, stop in at Maggie Beers' Pheasant Farm for some of Australia's best pate and other yummy treats, and don't forget to visit some of the smaller wineries than just the biggies like Penfolds.

If the Barossa is a bit touristy for your liking, there is also the MacLaren Vale wine region which has some great little B&B's and other little hidden away treats. If you like sweets, visit the Medlow factory (not much more than a shop but they have some great jellies). But that's all for the visitors, locals have their own little hot spots they don't want to share with the tourists!

For those who are into cycling, Adelaide is perfect. Nice and flat and there are some really great cycle events.

One thing that really impressed me while staying in Adelaide was the fact the local govenment has free busses for travel around the city. Show me another city in Australia that offers free public transport, and GOOD public transport too. The buses were clean, new and on time.

Adelaide is clean, pretty and easy to navigate, not to mention having a great cafe scene. Perfect place to chill.
