What can I do on holiday in the Oban/Argyle area?
Going on a driving holiday soon and looking forward to it - do you have any suggestions of must see places?
Answers:
If you are going to Oban then take the boat trip to Mull and onwards to Staffa and then onto Iona and back to Mull.superb trip. Go to Fort William and take the Steam Train to Mallaig.
Lots more to see and do in that area..
you can dance and drama
Climb some mountains. Go seal and dolphin watching. Visit the amphitheatre folly in Oban. Go fishing.
Plenty of things to do
sunbathe?
Leave the car at Oban and go on the ferry to Mull and Iona.
Drive North from Oban, over the Connel bridge, up through Benderloch and Appin. It's one of the nicest parts of Scotland., not to be missed.
There's a nice distillery right in the centre of Oban that you can visit while it's raining, while the incessant torrential freezing rain is pouring down out of a leaden grey sky!!
Probably just fiddle with your bits.nothing else to do.
I have done many DIY holidays where I've driven to an area and know nothing about it - I've always found the local tourist information offices (they often have sites on the web - type something like XXXXX Tourist Information to find one near or at the place you are going - if you know) and the staff are always extremely helpful or you can just call in when you get there - that's what I always do and I've never been disappointed yet. I've often found I get holidays that most people don't know about because they booked through agents or holiday companies.
