Is there a holidays website where you can book hotels using DEBIT cards instead of CREDIT cards?

Why the vast majority of them won't accept them? What is the logic behind it?It should make more sense that they prefer debit cards, since the money is taken out at once.

Answers:
If yours is a Visa Debit Card (A Barclays Connect for example) then it shouldn't be a problem. With others - well, then yeah - they're not so universally accepted.
yes there are some but i wonder also the logic
most debit cards can be used as credit cards, ask your bank if you can, if it has visa, mastercard on it you probably can use it as a credit card
opodo.co.uk accepts Switch, mastercard, Visa, Delta and Amex according to the website
If you use your credit card, you will be protected against online fraud plus most will give free travel insurance and purchase protection

You debit card can be abused to your loss.

Beware
i think all of them use credit cards because it's a more "secure" debt..
Most accommodation brokers will accept debit cards.
Try todaywetravel.co.uk.
lowcostbeds.com
skybargains.co.uk
Good hunting..
Cheers david.
Unlike Credit Cards are debit cards in the U.S. have a daily authorization limit. Hotel's can not usually put big holds on debit cards but can on Credit Cards.
