Does anyone know any good areas to live in Bristol?
my sister is planning on moving there but doesnt really know the area. whats the rent prices like for one bed flats?
Answers:
One bed flats start from £400 pcm + bills, but typical price is £500-600 pcm.
Clifton is considered a "good area", but it's over-rated in my opinion. Apart from pretty buildings, designer shops, and posh restaurants, it doesn't have much to offer. Also very expensive.
My favourite area is Redland and Bishopston (around Gloucester Road). Good mix of residents, shops, and facilities. Still quite expensive though.
Easton, St.Paul's and Montpelier are considered dangerous by some, but they are popular with students and artists because they are cheaper, bohemian, and culturally diverse.
Bedminster is another popular choice. It's more "working class" than the areas above. It has good access to the city centre and train station (with no hills to climb!) and shopping facilities.
If you want somewhere really cheap, try Southmead in the outskirts. It's a bit depressing though!
there are no good areas in bristol,
its a little london
The nicest place to live in Bristol is Clifton, but the halls of residence for Bristol Uni are there so it's very studenty. Rent is a little cheaper than London for example, between £400 to £700 a month for a decent sized one-bedroom flat. Many areas of Bristol, especially to the west are quite chavvy.
My daughter lives in Little Stoke also there is Bradely Stoke both nice areas.
Cant help you with rent prices sorry.
Dont like Bristol itself much, was shopping there last month parts of it grotty.
bristol? NO.
I was in the prison there once..can't recommend the food or accommodation. It was free though!
I wouldnt live actually in Bristol probably better living down the road in Nailsea, if you definately want to live in Bristol though try near the docks in the apartments/penthouses-my mates Dad has one and its lush over looking the river!
I dont know the prices i live here but id say Westbury-on-trym or Clifton Henleaze might be a bit pricy but they are better areas or Stoke Gifford hope this helps a little good luck to ya sis!
Knowle off of wells road very large victorian houses converted into flats friend rents there she pays about 500 per month and it is two bed roomed. Windmill hill nice getting pricly now at about 100 per week might be lucky get shared house there and the houses are lovely with a huge park in the area. both area are easy commute distances. So are southville and ashton very up and coming areas with lovely cafes and bars on the high street but dont go to knowle west southmead or inns court or hartcliffe. But she is probably best off going for a shared house she can then get her house mates to show her the place and makes lots of friends.
Bristol is a lot like any city it has its good and bad places but how are they defined?
Clifton is always being called the best place to live but it is expensive to live their not just for rent but for price of a pint and no decent cheap supermarkets either. The areas around clifton are pretty nice but for the best of all world I would move to st werbergs it is near to the gloucster road which is great for cheap food, drinking and is a lively area. You are also close to the city and rent prices are relatively cheap. You can get the same sized flat as you would in clifton for £200 a month less.
Try Keynsham it's not far from Bristol, but cheaper than living in the City, You can get access to Bristol by train or the buses run pretty frequently as well.
DON't live in clifton unless u are very rich! long ashton is nice and the areas surrounding south bristol - North somerset areas such as Nailsea, Windford etc. Bristol is very expensive to live in anyway so the outskirts are cheaper
the harbour area is really nice area to live in
