Cuban currency??
What is the best thing to do regarding taking holiday currency to Cuba? Please advise me what to do.

Two rules on visiting Cuba:
1. Don´t take Dollars, as they charge you a 20% markup (1 Peso cubano convertible = 1.20 US$)
2. Take Euros or Canadian Dollars. Or better yet, use a credit card.
Have a nice trip. Be careful of what you say in front of "Tour Guides". Most of them are actually agents.
Take biros and chewing gum for the kids.
See if you can buy Pesos at the Post Office. They have lots of currencies. Check with American Express if their traveller's cheques can be used in Cuba.

i am sure their currency will not be convertible here. I would take dollars I can't see them being refused. Besty to ask the travel agent however.
This getting to be a regular question. The currency is the Cuban peso, the currency for the tourist is the CUC convertible peso, neither of which is a traded currency. DO NOT TAKE US DOLLARS they are penalized. If you are coming from the UK then bring pound notes and a credit card that is not connected to a US bank. Some banks will try to sell you Euros which is accepted in Cuba but you will have lost money on the 'turn'. If you are from the US then you'll just have to suffer a 10% charge for using them.
My ex father in law used to travel to Cuba a lot, the national currency is Pesos however he told stories about cubans refusing to do business with them and that they preferred American dollars. Also pens and sweets for the local kids is a big plus the kids are not allowed to go to school unless they have they're own pens. Use the Pens as bartaring aids, the kids moslty speak english and are great tour guides.
Although Cubans are paid in pesos, visitors to Cuba are required to only spend American dollars. The Cuban people love American dollars as it is a more viable currency. (alas, not so to Europe nowadays!) Enjoy your holiday..it's a BEAUTIFUL country with BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!
I visited Cuba last year Dec and took Sterling Travellers Cheques and were able to convert them at the hotel for cuban currency. At that time we were told that we could not buy cuban currency outside of Cuba, also that we could not convert back to pounds in the UK.
And as Hibee says take biros and chewing gum for the kids- they love them. Enjoy
