Big Bend National Park in the Southwest of Texas. It was great.
eccles near manchester
Iraq
Honduras.
I went to a caribbean island of the northeastern coast of Honduras called Roatan. It was beautiful, and the people were kind.
I also visited the Mayan ruins in the northwestern part of Honduras near the Guatemalan border.
They had many well preserved statutes, temples, and sacrificial alters. It is a beautiful country, and they have expansive rainforests.
I like big bend national park also.
but my favorite was Carlbad caverns N. Mexico.. I was so fascinated with the whole walk down through the cavern and seeing the crystals, the natural mineral formations, seeing the bat flights out of the caves at dusk.. it was thrilling.. there is even a full fledged restaurant at the bottom of the cavern. like a mile walk down into earth..
South Africa, went to Graaf-Reinet which is a desert valley town with mountains almost surrounding, so it was literally a giant baking dish, 40 degrees at 12pm couldn't go outside between 1-5 it was just too hot. Also some very torrential rain, within about 2 minutes of rain the roads were flooded, there were spiders with bodies the size of a child's hand, with a leg span of a metre ish.
Not to mention sleeping on the floor with huge ants crawling around everywhere.
Travelling by Mokoro on a Camping trip to the Okavango Delta
The most adventurous because of the risk of being attacked by hippo en route. A honeymoon couple had been attacked in the same spot the previous year, and the husband was killed. It was difficult to ignore all the spiders dropping all over us too. The slightest movement could have tipped the boat over as the water level was just 2 inches from the top of the Mokoro.
Walking around the Delta was fine though. We had the 1 minute safety talk. Charging elephant.climb a tree, Lion..stand still etc. Our guides had no weapons.
It was a fantastic experience!
My vote goes to cjbunty for best answer though! I would freak at spiders with a leg span of a meter!!
A trip to the top of Mount Washington in New Hampshire bearing in mind we're both soft townies and have a fear of heights. Mount Washington holds the world record for highest wind speed ever recorded on land and sure enough there was a blizzard at the top. At the bottom it was a beautiful sunny September day.
Walking Safari - Zamibia
Kenya. It was wonderful!
Hi, it had to be when I was working in Saudi Arabia,,, it was mysterious, and wonderful,, learning new customs, and foods, and meeting new people.
Then I went on a trip to Cairo, by myself,, that was a Hoot !

Mind it was with First Choice
Barentsberg, the Russian mining 'town' on Spitzbergen.
Or maybe the jungle of Nan province in Thailand, in search of "phii thong luang", an ethnic group with only 100 or so remaining, who are hunter-gatherers.

Take a boat to the north end, trek thru jungle for an hour til you come to the most beautiful lagoon you've ever seen.
Have a dip then collect firewood, build a fire, cook dinner and settle in to sleep on the beach.
