The fires have not damaged the resorts - you only need to research this to find out what has and hasnt been affected. Only one hotel was burnt and if it was yours then you would already have been told. This area relies on tourism to survive, and it won't survive with all these people throwing a fit about whether their holiday is spoilt or not. Spare a thought for all the people who have lost their homes and all the land and wildlife which has been destroyed. This land lies up within the hills of the peninsula - not on the beach!! The fires are now under control, and I am pretty certain your holiday will in no way be affected.
As far as I know, you arent entitled to compensation unless the government declares it unsafe to travel. As they haven't issued this warning, it is therefore safe to travel.
if they are a member of travel regulations body like ABTA they should be able to.
