There are plenty of information on various country customs sites which will tell you what you can and can't take and also depends on where you are going.
Australia is extremely strict on fruit, vegetable, plant matter etc, animal products and, even on your boots if you are coming from the UK or any country with foot and mouth or bird flu.
Y ou are now able to take laptops mobile phone . No lighters gas for haircurlers no liquid or make up but you able to a lipstick. If you buy item after going through pasport control then you are allowed to take these on as they would not be sold if you could not take them on board or you will be told at the check out of the shop. I hope this helps. Also you are allowed to take fomular for a baby and any precribed medication although you will have to show this to customs on the way through.

still quite restricted - ur probably best just taking the bear essentials ie, tickets, passports etc, i still wouldnt bother with the cosmetics just incase they take them off u and they cost u a fortune ! Also keep the hand luggage bag very small preferably one of those u can hang off your wrist ! When you come back let us all know how you went on so we know!
