Is it really practical to fly to Australia for a weekend, even a long weekend?

Answers:
yes it is if you come to melbourne. there's nothing much to see here! a long weekend would be enough!
no
No. Takes 36 hours of flying each way, ignoring jet lag. I'd probably avoid it unless I was going for 2 full weeks, but a "long week-end"? No way.
Depends what you're going for. A night with Holly Valence.definitely. Visiting family, a wedding or a birthday.no!
Well I wouldnt really think so, besides the fact that it takes a real long time to get there, dont forget the clocks are 12 hours ahead there, so by the time you got there, youd have been gone a day already. (But you could leave 12 hours late and get back to england at the same time you left austrailia if you think about it.)
yeah, if you live in Bali
It depends on your health, age, and stress levels. If you were over 30 you probably wouldn't be asking, I'm assuming, and if you can afford to go to Austalia.Heck..I would say if you are young, healthy, and adventurous GO!! have fun and be careful!
Only if you like flying. Fly there get off get on fly back.
I flew out to oz from the uk, i was'nt ready to comeback after 6 months, the jet lag is horendous!
ps 12 months and i was just about ready?
It depends where you are flying from. - If Uk then definitely not, you'll be too tired and jet lagged to enjoy it
I suppose it all depends on where you live. You have posted on the UK and Ireland page so I assume you live in one of those countries. I would say it's much too far. You wouldn't have time to recover from jet lag before it was time to return home.
No it is not.

I've been to New Zealand and after 36 hours of flying and changing planes etc., I could not have told you my name! It took me a good 10 days to recover.

It would be worth it if you were going to collect a cheque for about a million quid but not for much else!
no
not unless your in the mile high club!lol in which case it would be worth it!!and a much more entertaining long haul flight!
Wait you don;t work for r.a.f do you ? as a fighter pilot?
Well in Virgin space rocket it would be poss. other than that forget it you could maybe do it practising Astral travel
What a dumb question! You did not say where you would be flying from!
You asked if it were PRACTICAL to do. In other words, can it be done? Well, the obvious answer is yes. It is practical. Whether or not it is sensible, financially viable or personally feasible for you is entirely subjective. But you didn't ask any of that.
no. australia is so big that you can't see it in a weekend, not even a long weekend
I wouldn't even make the journey for a 2 weeks stay - it is sooo far.
Only if you live in NZ, bro.
