Where are you from in England and whats it like there now ?

cause I want to come back I am an expat born in the midlands and want to come home - been living in Canada far to long now

Answers:
Midlands, near Birmingham. People are generally friendly and unpretentious here, its much nicer than London. And a hell of alot cheaper.
I cant speak for Canada, buts its alroight here, ay it?

Good things about England-
-Chips
-Beer
-Tea
-Music scenes alot more interesting than alot of other countries
-Ethnic intergration (despite what the Sun wants you to think) alot better than alot of other countries
-The countryside

Bad things about England
-Booze fueled violence
-Rain
-Noel Edmonds
S.E. bedfordshire to be exact and its cold wet and depressing
Brighton, the weathers good dry and not too cold
Hampshire, and it's dark and cold but by day it's lovely! Country and town is within short driving distance, so I get the best of both worlds. I much prefer living further out than in a city.
Up north, but trust me it makes no difference, its still rubbish. Stay in Canada and come back for a holiday once in a while.
Harlington Village (Heathrow)

Stay where you are! Dark, Cold, expensive, full of non -English!
Havent been to Dudley for years but I expect its the same up there!
Liverpool.Car still has wheels on..cold.stay where you are fella!
Birmingham, quite mild.
southend essex its warm and dark its NOT raining im just going out for some chips but i will have trouble walking past the pub so ill be home about 11
Chapel St Leonards and it's nice and quiet, a little cold in the nights at the mo but lovely sun during the day
Bristol

Wait for the summer at least. Lots of racial tension. The governments stirring it up at the moment.
London 21:22pm. The temp is 15.6c and dry.
we are in hertfordshire but place has changed so much in the last 2 years ..feels like i am not from this country any more as all our freinds have moved and we are strangers in our own town where it seems english is not the 1st language spoken any more .. hence we are off to france
South East London. It's rubbish. Stay put.
Are you really sure you want to return?
Dont come back, you wont like it
I'm in Nottingham.

Stay in Canada
Can't comment on England but can comment on Scotland. Good people, good scenery, clean air (mostly). Expensive place, house prices quickly catching up with England. 10 years ago you could buy a house for £40,000 now same house would cost you £180,000-£200,000. Food and clothing prices getting silly. Went to Spain a few weeks ago and bought a jacket from Zara - cost £40.00. Back home in Scotland same jacket is £60.00. Was in Toronto last year, first visit and its a very nice place. You're climate is better than ours. Not as rainy.
a little place called Batley, in West Yorkshire. it's great! :-)
i live in linconshire..very nice place lots of sea nearby..good jobs and freindly people.
I live in Gosport at the moment because my husband is in the forces and we move a lot. We did spend 3 years in Wolverhampton and I can honestly say that it was my least favourite place ( and we used to live in Hounslow!) I don't know if it's me but I just thought people in the Midlands were a bit unfriendly and gruff! Maybe it's just Wolves but if I were you I would stay where you are. If you do come back go somewhere quite rural 'cos the inner cities have turned to s**t in the last 5 years.
I'm from the isle of wight, but i'm in portsmouth now. It's pretty dark at the moment. being night time and all.
Im in the outskirts of Bradford, and its windy as hell right now, I'd listen to everyone else and stay put in Canada.
Derbyshire,

its a bit parky and its also gettin dark real early, it is officially coat weather.
North Wales its not been to bad today BUT normally this time of year its cold cold cold and wet wet wet wet and very very very very windy.... in Canada!
Lancashire it is dark cold ,and full of wogs
STOKE ON TRENT. Its dark . Roll on the spring. Don't like these dark long nights.
I'm from Nottingham too. Stay where you are. England is no longer England. It's full of foreigners. Walk around a local supermarket in the evening and it's like a UN convention. There are far too many people here and the roads are packed almost all day.
Vancouver's supposed to be quite nice innit? Although I've a bit of a soft spot for the Ottawa Senators rather than the Canucks :o)
Liverpool, and really mild, quite warm, actually, guess this is not what you really wanted to hear ? Bless you, speedy return to your homeland.
I live in Essex, although I'm a token Essex girl because I was born in Islington (North London).

It's been unbelievably good weather wise for the last couple of months here in Britain but the dark nights are now upon us.

Essex itself is very multi cutural and has it's share of nice countryside and large towns with big shopping malls (Go Lakeside!)

Apart from the countryside and big towns we have some good seaside locations and great restaurants, plus the people are friendly - my Partner hails from Yorkshire (where it's always cold!) and has settled here OK.

We went to Toronto, Quebec and Montreal last year and walked ourselves silly seeing all the sights - the other half still wants to see Vancouver and all the beautiful scenery.

Holidays are great but there really is no place like home!

Good Luck!
The Black Country just North of Birmingham. the roads are madness - bloody humps everywhere - speed cameras - traffic lights and white lines. The hospitals are in chaos - but all the Industry has virtually gone - everyone works pushing paper now and selling lottery tickets - that sort of crap. They actually block some roads right off - and some half way to stop you taking a shortr cut out of the grid locked A roads. Tax is low for income tax - but 17.5% VAT (sales tax) - booze and cigarettes are high. £5 a packet for cigarettes - but they are banning it almost everywhere anyway. Drug crazed loonies on crack in some areas - and hookers who earn to pay for it. Still the green and pleasant land you remember if you stay away from towns and cities.
