This is actually quite difficult and not cheap. If you are a EU resident then things may be cheaper. In my agency days, I seem to remember that a company called "Extrasure" used to do this. Note that whatever you do, please mind the conditions carefully and above all note that in the event of a problem, repatriation is to the UK NOT to your home country. I do know that it was always a big problem, this one. mainly because many firms asked: "How come you are over here in the first place, without insurance?" Which is of course, a rather moot point!
