stay in the vondelpark area.
Whatever you do, don't stay at Hans Brinker. The place is disgusting. The Stayokay Amsterdam Vondelpark is fine, good neighbourhood, close to the museums and within walking distance of the centre.
stay at the crown which has a bar and pool table and is only about 25 quid a night
i visited amsterdam last year and lived in bulldog hostel.there are a few in amsterdam and are quite nice.even if it is a hostel(remember the movie)it`s a grate place to spend your vacation in ,with nice people and special rooms.if u are interested the hostel has his own coffeeshop.have fun and enjoy amsterdam.
stay in the bulldog.best place in amsterdam
There are many good value hotels in Amsterdam but the one to definitely NOT stay in is the Tulip Hotel Central. The rooms are so small there was nowhere to put cases except on the dressing table and you could not walk round the beds you had to climb over them to get to the loo!
The Golden Tulip hotel in the city.
I have been there twice in the last two years and stayed at the Bema Budget Hotel. CLose to the Van Gogh museum, friendly service, clean and a good price.
If they are booked, try www.eurocheapo.com for other ideas.
Good luck.
