A family friendly place to stay in Tuscany?

We need to accommodate a five year old, and a three year old, and a reasonably active grandma in her 70s (plus two other adults). Looking for something around May. Not looking to break the bank, though! Any suggestions?

I recommend that you opt for one of the many 'agriturismo' in Tuscany. These provide quality accommodation on farms of many different types. They all have individual qualities and you can choose one that fulfills your requirements. In the last two years we have stayed at 'Podere La Fonte' near Montalcino which specialises in organic food and has a biological swimming pool and provides wonderful home-cooked food for 18 Euro per night, and 'SaraLisa' near Montecarlo (Lucca) which was completely self-catering but with a good deal of help and local knowledge to help you discover the local area and good/cheap eating. Start by doing a search on www.agriturismo.com, narrow your search area and look for the place which provides the facilities which fulfill your needs and dreams. They are much more person/family-friendly than your average hotel and the quality is usually excellent.

Good Luck and have fun on your holiday
I've always had the best luck with travel agents.
Albergo Lossana near Viale Matteoti, behind the Accademia.
I live in Tuscany, in San Gimignano and in our area we have many agriturismo, hotels, bed and breakfast or just apartment. You can look on the web www.sangimignano.com there is a list of accommodation.

A relaxed and elegant town in Tuscany is also Montecatini Terme: about 30 min. drive from Florence. Perfectly located (as it is close to Florence, Lucca, Pisa and the sea) it offers all you may want from shopping, parks, restaurants, thermal spas, hotels and beauty treatments.
