Can you travel up to the expiry date of a UK passport, provided it's within the EU?

I'm flying to Dublin (from Edinburgh) on 14th November, at which time I will have 3 months left on my passport. Will this be okay as far as Passport control is concerned?

Answers:
You do not need a passport for travel between the UK and Ireland. What you DO need is Photo ID to check in at the airport, which means that unless you have a photo driving licence you need to use your passport anyway, even though legally it is not required and has never been necessary for travel between the two countries. This is why some airlines will allow you to fly out on a recently expired passport (check with your carrier - I'm certain Ryanair does, its on their website somewhere under permitted forms of ID besides a passport) and likewise, an almost-expired passport is no problem for UK-Ireland travel. The problems start arising if you plan to go anywhere else outside of the UK or Ireland, when yes, usually, it is still necessary to have six months remaining on a passport when you travel, which when you think about it is a bit of a rip-off - millions of people out there paying for a ten year passport, when actually it is only a nine and a half year passport!!
yeah that should be fine
You have to make sure that your passport doesn't expire whilst you are away. If it does, they simply won't let you board the plane. You have to have a certain amount of time left on your passport for them to let you fly but I can't remember how long. Arghh! You don't say how long you will be away for?
Absolutly when your passport expires you still can use it in europe as an id for 5 years; but not any other country
You can use the passport up until the day before expiration. If the expiration date is November 15th, then it is expired on that day and invalid. The last day it would be valid is November 14th until midnight. If you have 3 months left, what's the concern? How long are you staying in Dublin? If you're going for more than 3 months, then you have to renew the passport.
I have come across some travel requirements that say you have to have a minimum amount of time left on your passport just in case of flight delays/cancellations But 3 months is more than enough. Could also only be countries with visa requirements.

Obviously this depends on the amount of time you are away and if it expires when you have yet to come back.

Unsure as to the expiration side of things but my passport expired after having moved from NZ. Just went to the embassy here and got a new one. All good. BTW I have an EU PP.
You will be fine, no worries. You are allowed to travel on your British passport up until its expiration date. It is, however, still valid for 5 years after its date of expiration and is not normally a problem, it will have to be authorised by only the airline supervisor on duty.

If you have NO passport, say it gets lost or stolen whilst you are away, you need to go to the nearest Embassy or Consulate and they will issue you with an Emergency Passport, valid only for your return trip home.

If this is not possible, within Europe you can normally fly using any form of "reasonable" photographich ID - say a driving licence. This however has to be authorised by the duty supervisor and also by immigration at your home airport.

Some airlines have stricter policies than others, but in your case you will be fine.
some countries ur passport must have 6 months left but 3 months is fine for ireland
You can travel between the UK and Ireland without the need for a passport so having 3 months left on a UK passport is irrelevant - yuo will still get in.

You can travel between the the UK and the EU up until your passport expires.
