Answers:
(i) Packages must not weigh more than 70 kilograms (or 150 lbs) or exceed 270 centimetres (or 108 inches) in length or a total of 330 centimetres (or 130 inches) in length and girth combined.
(ii) The value of any package may not exceed the local currency equivalent of USD 50,000. In addition the value of any jewellery or watches, other than costume jewellery or costume watches, in a package shall not exceed the local currency equivalent of USD 500.
(iii) Packages must not contain any of the prohibited articles listed in the Guide including (but not limited to) articles of unusual value (such as works of art, antiques, precious stones, stamps, unique items, gold or silver), money or negotiable instruments (such as cheques, bills of exchange, bonds, savings books, pre-paid credit cards, share certificates or other securities), firearms and dangerous goods.
(iv) Packages must not contain goods which might endanger human or animal life or any means of transportation, or which might otherwise taint or damage other goods being transported by UPS, or the carriage, export or import of which is prohibited by applicable law.
When you get to the airport, tell them that you are a Muslim and you are exporting a small but long explosive device. you will get looked after all the way.
That's something you'll have to ask a courier service. Because it will be classed as a weapon, you may have a little difficulty, especially to South Africa. You wouldn't have been able to a while back when I was living there because of the violence.
You can buy Samurai swords other places.
you mean: imitations of samurai swards?
I take it that you are referring to a katana?
If you mean a fake, that you want to hang on your wall, then just buy them at one of those shops that sells "ninja stuff". in South Africa As far as I know it is hard to buy a real katana in SA. Even then the quality is not guaranteed. If you are serious about collecting or are practicing a martial art and want the real deal, I would recommend getting your sword from Japan. If you have real big bucks, you could get one made for you..just like in the movie Kill Bill..well kinda.lol. In any case to get back to your question, talk to the airline. I am sure you could put it on the plane with you as long as it isn't in the cabin. Of course you have to pack it very well, as the tend to chuck luggage around a bit and a sword is rather fragile. Hope this helps. Also have a look at http://www.martialartsmart.net they ship to SA.
tell a friend to bring deliver it for you.Must add it to golf club bag filled with clubs. Seal the bag completely and must not carry it as a hand luggage.
Buy it on line in South Africa and have it delivered through the mail. There will be no problem.
