How long can I expect to queue at the check in for New York at Heathrow Airport?

even before the fun , this summer, ive found that arriving 4 hours before a flight, there was already a long queue,, so never leave it less than 4 hours,, its getting rediculous.. quicker to bloody drive now..

depends who your flying with, virgin you can book seats and check in online
If you are flying BA or Virigin you can on line check in 24 hours before your flight and when you arrive you just go to the self service machines to print your boarding pass and then to bag drop it tok no more than 10 mins recently with BA. If you are flying woith some one else it may be worth checking if they do this as well

Only fools queue, make sure you book with an airline that alows on-line or self-service check in. With these options you can avoid the queues and go for a pre flight drink! Also if using BA its not too much more to upgrade to World Traveller Plus where you get a sperate check in and access to the exec lounge.
