I'm planning on visiting Hong Kong alone at the end of the year..?
I'm a single female travelling alone, any tips for me in a busy city like Hong Kong. And is it as expensive as everyone keeps telling me?

I was there last year and it is kind of expensive. The hotel i stayed in was $150 per night and food, transportation, etc. was higher than what I am used to. But as far as travelling alone i wouldn't worry too much. Most of the people speak English very well and I never once felt unsafe. The public transportation system is great and user friendly. There is an express train that runs from the airport straight to all of the main areas in Hong Kong. I had a great time and I'm sure you will too.
ya, take loads of money with you and crouch a lot.
Alone is not a good idea.try and take a friend with u.tips not, much but it helps to know some basic words in chinese as they like it in foreigners.they become more friendly if u know a few basic words in their language.good luck and enjoy.

do not listen to some of the answers on this question. HK is totally safe for a female travelling alone. But, yes, it can get very expensive considering what you like to do. Public transportation is very cheap and reliable and FUN (double decker buses) and scary (double decker buses on winding cliff roads). But you shouldn't feel worried about seeing that amazing city on your own.
If you've had experience travelling alone you will know that you just need to be careful. Travelling in Hong Kong is no more dangerous than travelling in London. Keep your wits about you and you'll be fine. Taxis are cheap out there if you ever get lost or feel uncomfortable anywhere.
Must-dos include lots of cheap shopping at the markets (with plenty of haggling) and visiting the Big Buddha on Lantau Island.
HK is a nice place to visit especially for ladies~ 1st for shopping .2nd for foods .I would recommanded MACAU its another nice place to visit too.U can take the ferry from china ferry terminal ( Tsimshatsui) - macau ferry service .
Im a female also going to Hong Kong but in January 07. I have stopped in Bangkok by myself for a few days and found that people were really helpful because I was alone. I really enjoyed the experience so dont worry too much :)) Good luck
