What food can I take abroad to portugal? I am going by plane?
are there limits to what type of meats or veg?

Why take food to Portugal? My goodness they have all kinds of food there, even american fast food joints, pizza hut, etc; Avoid the hassle and leave your meat and vegetables at home. They also have supermarkets there to buy food and take back to fix. You are not going to a "still medieval" country.
It all depends where you are flying from. International regulations from and to some countries do not allow fruits vegetables or meats.
Some cheese if vaccuum sealed are permitted. Check with the carrier.

Hi go on to BAA.COM it has all the ifo on there,i also wanted to know about food as we are flying to spain nxt wk end,i also emailed Thomson they emailed bck and said you can take any solid foods,sandwiches,crisps,chocol. etc as long as it isnt liquid form and it is solid food,go on to the website i said alot off info there.Happy Hols.
I have found international flights to serve plenty of food. Why do you need to take some? I'd throw an ''energy bar'' in, but that is all.
As far as I know you are not alowed to take any foods....

Well. not that i could say much more, but here in Portugal we really have good food. Our Menu includes mainly healthy ingredients wich is common in mediterranian culture. It's easy to find nice and cheap restaurants. Even in the midle of major cities we have some of those, so you don't have to run away to more distante places if your hotel is down town. I think people is nice, at least friendly enough to guide you to great places to eat. And yes it's true that our supermarkets have all fruit and vegies you can figure out. Oh well most of them. Have a nice stay. If you go to Porto then look for "Porta Larga" in "Ribeira" and ask for "Tripas à moda do Porto". and it's cheap. say 2 can eat for 15/20 euros. Write it down! Try not to look as a tourist as in rare cases thiefs might show up. but that can happen all around the world. Cheers!
Why are you taking food with you? Portugese people make great food and they have ready access to any sort of produce that you need. Why worry about the hassle of carrying it on a plane with you? And to top it all off, they make wonderful custard tarts!
