The trip will be about a month or a month and a half, Economy would play a big part with the choice of car.
Answers:
The most reliable makes, according to the 2006/2007 Which? car guide are:
Honda: 85%
Toyota: 84%
Lexus: 83%
Hyundai, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Suzuki: all on 81%
BMW have average reliability at 76% . other makes that are traditionally seen as reliable also aren't. VW is average at 75%, Mercedes-Benz is below average at 71%
Edit: Audi are also below average at 74%
BMW parts are available throughout Europe and besides they rarely break down anyway .
i heard megannes wer quite reliable
an Audi.very reliable, economical, and you'll look good in one.
Has to be a Toyota Corolla. Voted best all round for a number of years now.
You want a reliable car, fairly economical, and comfortable for a long drive, then i would recommend the ford Mondeo, never let me down, and i have done loads of trips across Europe in mine.
I suppose it depends on the age of the car as well as the make.
Are you looking to buy a new car, or just something cheap to get by?
Have you thought about hiring a car instead? I know people who've done that before. They were covered for breakdown etc too. It would probably work out the same cost as buying an older car.
Have fun!
