Have you been on a Thomsons Gold holiday if so which was the best hotel and why?
Answers:
Yes, I went to the Atlantica Hotel in Kolymbia in Rhodes. The hotel was fabulous but the location wasn't great. Really stylish, huge rooms, friendly staff, beautiful food and surroundings. If you have a particular hotel in mind try holidaywatchdog.com, it's a really good website.
Thomson Gold is an interesting brochure, usually used by those people who want to move up from mainstream stuff - but are not too sure where to look! (No offence intended - as a travel agent, I have seen this many times) Put another way, It's like saying I want a luxury car - so I will look at a deluxe top of the range Ford Mondeo, rather than go to a Jaguar dealer. So, it may be time for you to visit a good, independent, travel agent. There are a wealth of brochures which have several levels of holiday types - Classic Collection, for example or Prestige Holidays. You see, it's not just the Hotel or resort - it's where the rooms an operator has in the hotel are located as well and how many of them they have for a season. (There is more to this, but there is not enough room here). Brit holidaymakers can be very blinkered - brought about mainly because most of them have a parrot on their shoulder going "cheap, cheep" (sic) The trick is not to look for the cheapest but to look for the holiday that offers best value - and that is a wholly different story. So, look for a good, independent travel agent - interview them a bit - ask where they have been themselves - older agents may be better (no disrespect to youngsters, they just have no personal experience of places) When you have found one, nurture them, they are a rapidly dying breed!
