What can you do / get for free in London apart from the obvious - parks, free museums etc.?
Answers:
Here's a few things I thought of .
My favourite thing to do is to stroll along the Thames and take in all the sights. The south bank from Tower Bridge to the London Eye is good because you get to see lots of wonderful places like Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Golden Hind, Southwark Cathedral, Shakespeare's Globe, Town Hall, Tate Modern etc etc. Some buildings you can go in for free but others are good enough to just admire from the outside. Plus there are some second hand book stalls near the National Theatre, they often have great outdoor photo exhibitions on the waterfront outside Town Hall and there are always lots of buskers around to entertain you on a sunny day.
For free food, head out to the Borough Markets. It is a farmers market where you can just stroll around and eat lots of sample goodies without having to buy anything.
For a free night out, you could go to a live television recordings. They are quite fun in themselves to watch but will also have comedians between filming of scenes. I've even been to a couple where they give you a couple of free beers before you go in.
Window shopping on Oxford and Regent Streets is always fun. Don't forget to look up as there is some amazing architecture in that part of town.
On a Sunday, Speakers Corner in Hyde Park is lots of fun as you can just wonder around and listen to the loonies on their soap boxes.
A stroll in the parks (eg St James Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens etc) is always nice. Take some bread or nuts or something and feed the squirrels.
Greenwich has some good free sights like the Prime Meridien and the Maritime Museum. Plus the park has a deer enclosure.

London does have some amazing architecture, check out the posh store Libertys near Carnaby Street for example! St Pauls does have a charge if you want to go right in, unless you actually go to a service I suppose.
Wander around Canary Wharf, some of the buildings there are fabulous. The loos are free and luxurious too!
